We have heard about the loss of a great scientist, unreached personality and true friend. Marcus´ work spirit and his helpful and understanding attitude were overwhelming. ARCO, the Italian Association for the Research and Cure of Urticaria, its President, its Board of Directors and its Scientific Committee, wishes to express its sincerest condolences to Prof. Maurer's family . Prof. Maurer's extraordinary dedication to research and his humanity will leave an indelible mark on all who had the fortune to know and work with him, especially for us patients who have benefited from innovative therapies and thus regained a real hope for healing. We will miss you so much, dear Prof. Maurer and we will keep on doing our best to follow your example in supporting patients in Italy and internationally through GAL2EN's initiatives and Italian UCare Centers. May your soul rest in peace, and may your legacy continue to inspire future generations of physicians and scientists and patients' associations.

Marcus was uniquely human in the midst of constant stress and his packed schedule. You could come to him at any time. He was always willing to offer his help and support. He took a genuine interest in the other person, even if they had personal problems, he would call and ask what the situation was. He was always looking for a solution and how a project could be moved forward and never found someone to blame if something didn't go well straight away. He was a lot of fun to work with. He was able to motivate in a unique way with his positive energy, brilliant ideas and close and fast collaboration. His enthusiasm for his research topics was also reflected in his presentations: they were simply legendary, he had the incredible gift of transferring his passion for his research topics to the audience and captivating them. As a mentor, Marcus had a significant influence on the development of so many people and I am infinitely grateful that I was also lucky enough to have been accompanied and significantly supported by him on my professional path. I am infinitely grateful that I was able to get to know Marcus and be part of his team. My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. I miss you so much.

Prof Maurer was a unique person with a great passion , brilliant mind and kind person. I used to see how energetic he was while teaching and how kindness he shows to his students ,fellows and colleagues. We will miss him and my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I had the chance to work with the great Prof. Maurer on some projects. He was always amazing, brilliant, shiny, and full of knowledge, hope, smile, and energy at every moment. He was one of the greatest speakers ever. What a great loss but his legacy will remain forever. May Allah bless his soul.

Marcus was not only an extraordinary teacher, scientist and physician, but also a remarkable leader, who was able to cultivate a wonderful working environment where everyone enjoyed working at. The fantastic team spirit, very much fostered by Marcus, was what impressed me the most since I started working in Berlin almost two years ago. We are all missing you very much, not just in Berlin, but all around the world, as you touched the lives of so many people everywhere you went. For me, it was a great honor to meet you and learn from you. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

Lieber Marcus, ich erinnere mich noch genau an unser erstes Treffen 2012 (mein Vorstellungsgespräch bei Dir) und unser letztes Gespräch, als wir beim EAACI 2024 zusammen über die Zahnpastaflecken auf deiner schönen lila Krawatte gelacht haben. Ich danke Dir für alles was dazwischen lag, all die Erinnerungen, Dein Vertrauen, alles was ich in der Arbeitsgruppe lernen durfte und auch all die Geburtstagsständchen 😉 , Erfolge und auch Herausforderungen in unserer weiteren Zusammenarbeit danach. Du fehlst hier sehr, aber wir werden alle gemeinsam die Urtikaria-Welt in Deinem Sinne weiter voran treiben. Meine Gedanken sind bei Deiner Familie und dem tollen Charité-Team, von dem ich einst Teil sein durfte.
