Marcus will forever be the greatest scientist in our field. I am so thankful for everything he taught me. Thank you, Marcus, for being the best mentor I could have wished for in my early career. Your spirit, positivity and kindness were so unique. I will miss you. My thoughts are with your family.
We have heard about the loss of a great scientist, unreached personality and true friend. Marcus´ work spirit and his helpful and understanding attitude were overwhelming. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We are sure you will find the peace that you deserve and never be forgotten. Inga, Volker and Victor.

Dear Marcus,
We knew each other very little, a few friendly exchanges by email in a professional context. However, the announcement of your sudden departure upset me... From the reaction of all your colleagues and friends, and especially Beate, I now understand why: you were an exceptional person, loved and esteemed by all. And I had felt it...
My thoughts go to your family in these moments of intense pain.
Ruhe in Frieden, Marcus...

Marcus was uniquely human in the midst of constant stress and his packed schedule. You could come to him at any time. He was always willing to offer his help and support. He took a genuine interest in the other person, even if they had personal problems, he would call and ask what the situation was. He was always looking for a solution and how a project could be moved forward and never found someone to blame if something didn't go well straight away. He was a lot of fun to work with. He was able to motivate in a unique way with his positive energy, brilliant ideas and close and fast collaboration. His enthusiasm for his research topics was also reflected in his presentations: they were simply legendary, he had the incredible gift of transferring his passion for his research topics to the audience and captivating them. As a mentor, Marcus had a significant influence on the development of so many people and I am infinitely grateful that I was also lucky enough to have been accompanied and significantly supported by him on my professional path.
I am infinitely grateful that I was able to get to know Marcus and be part of his team. My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.
I miss you so much.

Your energy and passion for science and patients was contagious. Thank you for all the wonderful projects, the laughs and the inspiration to strive for more. Your light will continue to shine bright.
Today, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for Prof. Dr. Marcus Maurer, a distinguished professor in dermatology, whose influence goes far beyond being a practitioner or even an investigative dermatologist. His work, with numerous publications and contributions, has left a lasting impact on the field, well beyond the scope of clinical practice.
For me, Marcus was not only an outstanding scientist and educator, but also an exceptional mentor. He dedicated countless hours to his students, shaping the careers of all who had the privilege of learning from him, me included.
His unwavering commitment and guidance helped me achieve my goals. I will always remember the long hours he spent—whether in the lab or, even late into the night, reviewing and correcting my thesis from his own bed. He taught me how to convey complex scientific ideas in a clear and meaningful way, and he guided me with patience and expertise throughout my PhD journey.
Marcus, your impact on my life and career is immeasurable. Thank you for your wisdom, your dedication, and the extraordinary time you invested in helping me cross the finish line. I will always be indebted to you.

I had the chance to work with the great Prof. Maurer on some projects. He was always amazing, brilliant, shiny, and full of knowledge, hope, smile, and energy at every moment. He was one of the greatest speakers ever. What a great loss but his legacy will remain forever. May Allah bless his soul.

Dear Marcus
We met in Berlin in 2014 and that was when I became fascinated with the complex immunology behind urticaria… and that was all thanks to you. Your dedication and love for teaching were fascinating and helped me treat many Portuguese patients with urticaria.
It was such a pleasure to work together in our recent publication… that is still hard to believe what happened.
Your intelligence, friendship and generosity will forever linger in our hearts. Thank you ????????
Marcus was not only an extraordinary teacher, scientist and physician, but also a remarkable leader, who was able to cultivate a wonderful working environment where everyone enjoyed working at. The fantastic team spirit, very much fostered by Marcus, was what impressed me the most since I started working in Berlin almost two years ago. We are all missing you very much, not just in Berlin, but all around the world, as you touched the lives of so many people everywhere you went. For me, it was a great honor to meet you and learn from you. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

I am sharing my heartfelt sorrow for losing a good friend, so gifted with an outstanding creative mind, amiable personality, endless energy, and contagious enthusiasm for medicine and science.
Marcus was a true trailblazer with a special talent for connecting people from all over the world.
His passing has created a significant void in our community, a space that can never be filled.
Lieber Marcus,
